Draco sat in an open clearing, the moss under paw catching his claws as he dug them through it. Time for the first real test of my apprentice. Daggerpaw shall be a good fighter if looks are anything, and he would most likely be elated when he learned they weren't just patrolling again. Draco though, shrugging his multi-colored shoulders...

Green eyes scanned surronding lands as a muzzle inhaled. The scent of Daggerpaw's mentor was evident and it took only a moment for the apprentice to spot the large tom. Eagerly Daggerpaw padded over to Draco, a toothy grin upon his face. "Greetings Draco." he mewed in an almost polite manner. Draco was the only cat that ever got any respect from Daggerpaw.

Draco dipped his head to his apprentice. Grinning slightly at the thought of Daggerpaw being polite. "How would you like some battle training, daggerpaw?" he asked his eyes gleaming.

OOC//: This is his first battle training, right? If not just tell me and I'll edit my post.
Daggerpaw's glowing orbs seemed to pop out of his skull. It was difficult for an apprentice to work up to battle training, some never made it. Mentors were harsh and many apprentices were killed in the rising fury of their mentors after they failed time after time with basic hunting skills. Then others ran away, unable to stand the difficulty of the hunting tasks. But here Daggerpaw stood, his mentor more then ready to teach him the ways of battle. Daggerpaw felt like yowling in pride, but he contained himself by digging his claws aggressivly into the soft soil beneath his paws. "That would be most appreciated." his tone was calm for the most part, but the edges were tinted with obvious excitement and pride.

Draco nearly smiled at Daggerpaw's excitement, and his evident pride. "Good" he mewed standing up. "Now I would like to test what you can do by instinct. Attack me" Draco mewed sliding forward into a defensive crouch. His paws placed wide for balance and his head low to butt his apprentice away if he should fail in his leap. Daggerpaw is a good apprentice, he shall be a fine fighter Draco thought to himself.

Daggerpaw narrowed his gaze at his examined the situation. It was obvious Draco was larger then him, therefore he couldn't work with blunt force; he had to use skill. He crouched to the ground, belly dragging, as he did a half circle around Draco. He knew his mentor was watching his every move so he couldn't use the element of surprise, but even so he knew there was a way to beat the tom. With a small twitch of his tail tip, he leapt aggressivly towards his right side but purposely leapt over the tom, then spin quick and went for the left side, hoping the change of sides would be too quick for an oponent to comprehend.

Daggerpaw leapt at his right side. Draco prepared himself, but quite suddenly his apprentice shifted mid air slamming into his left side. Draco went rolling. Keeping his cool both of his front paws flashed out, trying to grab Daggerpaw and smash the smaller cat to the ground.

Daggerpaw landed proudly as he smashed his mentor away. He narrowed his eyes in amusement but realized too late his mentor was not so easily defeated. He attempted to dodge the mighty paws, but got caught in mid leap. He felt an aching pain as he was smashed face first into the soil. He wobbily got back to his paws instently though, now aware that an attack could come again at any moment.

Draco rolled onto his paws chuckling. "That was very good for your first fight Daggerpaw." he mewed. Draco looked down at his apprentice proudly. "Now, would you rather learn how to confuse or how to shred?" He ased giving Daggerpaw a chose in his first leason.

Daggerpaw didn't allow the pride that began to well at his mentors compliment show in his eyes or movements. He kept tense with a stern look, making it obvious he was ready for a surprise attack. At his mentors questioned he thought for a moment. He realized confusing an oponent would be very usefull at all times, but his love for bloodshed made the other answer to appealing to ignore. "To shred." he answered in a dignified manner.

Draco almost smiled. "Okay than, Daggerpaw. Watch me" Draco slumped forward into his hunting crouch. Stalking forward Draco suddenly lept. Up into the air his huge body flew with surprising grace, his large paws flashed out claws extend and in a ripping manner he wrenched them down in a way that would surely disembowel a cat on its back. Rolling he slammed into the ground, his shoulders taking the impact as he rolled up on to his paws. "Now you try" Draco instructed, raising a paw to motion for Daggerpaw to proceed.

Daggerpaw felt a bit foolish attacking thin air; he'd much rather practice on a cowering rabbit. But he did as the dpeuty instructed, crouching low as if stalking, before leaping into the air. He played the move with surprising skill, but as he landed back to his paws, he felt his balance give way. He fell to the left and unsheathed his claws, scratching his leg as if punishing himself for being so clumsy. "Foxdung!" he snarled before leaping back to his feet, fresh blood from where he had purposly scratched himself oozing slowly to the soil. He refused to meet his mentors gaze and was ready for a scolding.

Draco watched his apprentice stumble. His gaze didn't narrow at all. Slipping to Daggerpaw's side Draco helped him stabilize. "That was very good for a first try" Draco mewed approvingly. "Just remember to land with your weight in your shoulders, and hunches, not in your paws" Draco mewed calmly, dipping his head. "Try again" he mewed stepping back.
